Accumulation and distribution of skin fluke Neobenedenia girellae eggs on a culture cage

Skin fluke causes chronic problems in marine finfish aquaculture. Their eggs possess a long filamentous appendagethat allows themto easily attach to culture cages. Fish farmers periodically change and clean cage nets to removeeggs from the culture sites. However, there is very little information about the accumulation rate anddistribution of skin fluke eggs on culture cages

Constructing a microsatellite-based linkage map and identifying QTL for pearl quality traits in triangle pearl mussel (Hyriopsis cumingii)

Hyriopsis cumingii is the most economically important aquaculture species for freshwater pearl production inChina. A linkage map is an essential framework for mapping QTL. In this study, a genetic linkage map of the freshwaterpearl musselwas constructed using microsatellites in an F1 outbred family. Five hundred and six microsatellitemarkerswere mapped to 19 linkage groups (LGs). The number of LGs detected corresponded to the haploidchromosome number of the freshwater pearl mussel.

Effects of food type and feeding frequency on the performance of early juveniles of the sea urchin Loxechinus albus (Echinodermata: Echinoidea): Implications for aquaculture and restocking

Sustainable aquaculture and restocking of the sea urchin Loxechinus albus will demand a reliable source of highqualityjuveniles. Culture techniques for L. albus must be refined on several levels to scale up to commercial production. In this study, the effects of different natural foods (six algal foods and one animal food) and the feedingfrequency (three regimes: one continuous and two intermittent) on the growth and feeding of L. albus juvenileswith a test diameter of ca. 5 mmbelonging to a single 5-month-old cohort were investigated. Juveniles fed withRhodophyta: Porphyra sp.

Estimating the biomitigation benefits of Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture: A contingent behavior analysis

Using the contingent behavior method, we estimate the benefits derived from the biomitigative effects of IntegratedMulti-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) in the farming of Atlantic salmon. We asked a sample of Canadianshow their farmed Atlantic salmon consumption choices would be affected by the availability of IMTA productsin response to the decreased external costs they would impose on the surrounding marine environment.

Reversible and irreversible DC magnetization processes in the frame of magnetic, thermal and electrical properties of Fe-based composite materials

Proportions of reversible and irreversible magnetization processes in the overall magnetization processwere studied in a complex view of magnetic, thermal and electrical properties of iron–phenolphormaldehyderesin composites. They were determined experimentally at different values of magnetic inductionalong the initial curve.
